Our League

We aim to create a competitive league that is also open to women who are newer to golf. Members are not beginners to the game, but may be beginners to league play. We promote a fun atmosphere to learn and improve.

Join Us

Like prior years, women who were members the prior year were been invited back as a returning member. If you fall in this category, the league has sent you an email with details.

Women interested in joining the league as a new member should fill out our online application. Applications are reviewed in the order they are received.

Membership in the league is managed on a rolling basis. If at any point before or during the season we hit capacity, we’ll pause on enrollment - which includes screening new members as well as returning members who have not yet signed up for the 2026 season. The league has always intended to be one where all members are able to play, and we need to be able to balance the size of the league with access to tee times.

April 1 update: Recruitment for the 2026 season has paused.

  • Returning members who have not yet registered and paid dues can be put on a waitlist - please email courtney@bwgagolf.com to add your name.

  • New members: we encourage you to still fill out the application linked above.

  • If we are able to expand the size of the league during the 2026 season, we will take names off the waitlist and begin screening new members again. We will share these notifications via email to those who are on the waitlist or application list.

About You

  • You have a firm handle on the game. You either have a current handicap (through the GHIN) or are planning to start one. You do not need a handicap to join your first year of the league, but you will need to establish one to stay active in subsequent years.

  • You know and follow the rules.

  • You understand and practice pace of play. You keep score, know your max shots on each hole, and post your scores to the GHIN.

  • You know and follow proper game etiquette.

  • You are looking to work on your game and enjoy connecting with other golfers.

  • You bring a fun and positive energy to the group.

  • You are willing to volunteer to help plan and organize different events and activities throughout the season. A league is only as successful as its members make it.

Beginner to golf?

While BWGA is not open to beginners to the game, we love that you have found our favorite sport and encourage you to participate in events specific for newer golfers. Here are a few groups we know:

Mass Golf’s SOCIALIZE. LEARN. PLAY. program is “designed for women who are interested in golf but don’t know where to get started.” BWGA is a big fan of Mass Golf and all of their events.

Mass Golf supports the Golf Hub, which is a “centralized platform where Mass Golf members can find and register for events, leagues, and clinics at Massachusetts courses.” Search here for events and you’ll find things like Women’s Beginner Golf School at Weathervane Golf Club.

Girls Gone Clubbin’s mission is to “foster a love of golf. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just starting out, our inclusive environment welcomes golfers of all skill levels.” GGC is local, and has a variety of events and activities. See their website for event and membership information. Also on Instagram @girlsgoneclubbin

The Ladies League at Newton Commonwealth welcomes beginners as well as more experienced golfers. Check out their website or reach out to Albie (albie.bargoot@gmail.com) for more information. Act quickly as this league does fill up. 3/17/26 Update: Ladies League at Newton Comm is now full.

Fore the Ladies was formed in 2019 and “is a female-based community…on a mission to introduce more women to the game… We hope to make golf more accessible and approachable, while removing the expected barriers such as cost, equipment, golf course access, and intimidation.” Check their website for events in Boston.

Women On Course is a membership organization “for business professionals and lifestyle enthusiasts interested in connecting through the game of golf and all it has to offer.”

Which day is best for you to play?

We work with the pro shop to reserve preferred tee times for BWGA league members four times throughout the week. Each group has different expectations around play. Your handicap should dictate with which group you decide to play.

We play Tuesday mornings and evenings, Wednesday evenings, and weekend mornings and evenings.

  • Advanced beginners and up - Evenings (Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday)

    • We are not a beginners’ league, but we believe that golf should be accessible and welcoming.

    • If you are a new member, you do not need a handicap to play in the evenings, but you should be working toward one. If you are a returning member, we expect you to have an active GHIN membership and a handicap.

    • Afternoon/evenings are a 9-hole format. You need to be able to keep pace of play, play by the rules, and understand basic golf etiquette. Newer golfers should be comfortable asking for feedback on rules and pace, and open to receiving hints on league play.

  • Established golfers - Tuesday mornings, Wednesday evenings, and weekend mornings

    • Wednesdays are open to the entire league and all levels are strongly encouraged to play. It is our most social group. If this is your first year, Wednesdays are a great way to meet other members and learn more about the league.

    • Tuesdays and weekend mornings are offered to everyone, but you should have an active handicap under 36 before signing up.

    • Tuesday mornings offer an 18-hole format only.

    • Wednesday evenings offer a 9-hole format.

    • Weekend mornings offer an 18-hole format only.

  • Everyone - weekend afternoons

    • In 2025, the course management offered a new set of tee times to BWGA members and their guests. Highly popular, the pro shop is offering these again in 2026.

    • BWGA members can book the weekend afternoons and it’s the only preferred tee time where members are allowed to bring guests. (A guest must play with a member.)

    • Weekend afternoon golfers (members and non-members) need to be able to keep pace of play, play by the rules, and understand basic golf etiquette. Newer golfers should be comfortable asking for feedback on rules and pace, and open to receiving hints on league play.

    • Weekend afternoons are a 9-hole format.

Membership Dues

Membership dues help to cover league expenses like events, tournaments registrations, and prizes.

  • Preferred tee times / driving range - dues are your entry to preferred tee times and reserved driving range bays and unlimited balls alternating Friday evenings.

  • Cost per round - the cost of each round is pay-as-you-go and consistent with current course rates.  When booking through Fore Up during BWGA member-only times, BWGA members are eligible to play at the league rate which is lower than the non-resident rate.

  • Events - League dues help to subsidize costs for all league events, gifts, and prizes. Select events throughout the season may have an additional cost.

  • Ringers - Members with a handicap are eligible to participate and earn season-long prizes, at an additional cost.

2026 dues are $60 for returning members and $100 for new members. Returning members are required to have an active GHIN membership (not included in the BWGA membership fee). To register for a GHIN through Brookline, visit here.

Membership requires screening by a board member before paying. League dues are non-refundable and due before you participate in your first BWGA event or preferred tee time of the season. Additional costs for events, clinics, and other select activities are non-refundable as your spot is accounted for and must be paid out whether or not you attend. Tee times are booked through the pro shop directly and subject to course refund policies.

Tee Times

Once you’ve paid your dues and once the BWGA’s preferred tee times are available, you’ll be granted access to book BWGA’s reserved tee times through the pro shop’s platform, Fore Up.  Tee times are subject to course cancellation policies. More information is available on the “For Members” page.
